Our Roots
We get asked this question all the time, “what does Ohana mean”? The ancient Hawaiian term 'ohana means family, and it's the center of everything we do. Now, everyone is familiar with the famous "Ohana means family, family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten" from Disney's Lilo & Stitch. But, we wanted to go a bit deeper than that. Ohana speaks to the concept of a larger family that is not necessarily connected by blood. A person's 'ohana can include their best friends, neighbors, or anyone else who is special in their life.
In Hawaiian culture everyone is either called auntie, uncle or cousin. When you shift your thinking and begin to see everyone as family, you immediately feel kindness and respect towards everyone. When attempting to figure out the name of our business, we decided on Ohana because we’re inspired everyday to spread the Aloha Spirit. To show kindness and respect and treat everyone as family.
We know it’s a business, but we wanted people to feel like they’re family at Ohana Heating and Air. The people within it are bound together by genuine compassion, culture, support, loyalty, and love for each other. We value our differences and celebrate our common ground.
